Installation Site Readiness Checklist
The importance of proper site preparation is key to a successful, worry free installation and the longevity of your graphics.
To protect your investment, we request the following preparation guidelines.
These steps should be completed prior to installation. Northeast Color is not responsible for paint or wall damage or early vinyl failure.
Vinyl Wall Graphics
PAINT SPECIFICATIONS & CURE TIME
Walls receiving cut vinyl phrases/graphics must be finished with two coats of paint (no raw drywall or mud). Low VOC, zero VOC, and easy-clean stain inhibiting paints should be avoided as they are designed to keep things from adhering to them which can lead to failure and voiding the warranty. We recommend Sherwin Williams Cashmere Interior Acrylic Latex DP-D17W00151.
We prefer walls receiving full coverage vinyl murals be finished with two coats of primer as they have the ideal cure time and provide optimal adhesion. We recommend Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 or Zinsser Gardz Primer.
All primer or paint finishes must cure for a minimum of 14 days. This allows the primer/paint to fully outgas. Vinyl graphics will effectively seal in any residual moisture in the primer/paint so uncured finishes will likely result in failure of the graphics.
Please note that interiors lacking a fully functioning HVAC system capable of keeping temperature and humidity regulated at normal levels will require additional time for the paint to reach full cure. Please discuss paint cure tests with your Northeast Color Account Manager.
